License
apidcms license terms — MIT open source license.
License
apidcms is distributed under the MIT license — one of the most permissive and popular open-source licenses.
What You Can Do
- Use apidcms on any websites, including commercial projects
- Modify the CMS code to suit your needs
- Sell websites built with apidcms, without royalties
- Distribute copies of the CMS (including as part of commercial products)
- Create plugins under any license (MIT, GPL, proprietary)
What You Must Do
The only requirement is that when distributing apidcms (as part of a project, hosting package, or bundle), you retain the LICENSE file with the copyright notice:
Copyright (c) 2026 apidcms
The file is already included in the root of the distribution. If you use apidcms as-is on your own server, no additional action is needed.
What MIT Does NOT Require
- You do not need to open-source your modifications
- You do not need to mention apidcms in your site's UI
- You do not need to notify the authors about usage
- You do not need to license plugins under MIT
Why MIT
MIT was chosen because:
- Maximum compatibility — plugins can be under any license
- No restrictions for clients and agencies
- Industry standard — MIT is used by jQuery, React, Node.js, Express, Laravel
- Minimal legal overhead — one file in the repository root
